According to Pieper (Pg. 161-162), Garhwal is a mountainous region, in north western Uttarakhand, bounded on north by Tibet and on the east by Kumaon hills. This is the region where the Yaudheyas had taken refuge under the pressure of Indo-Scythians and early Kushan invaders. Their coins, alongwiththose of Kunindas have been found with a very short lived series of a local monarchial dynasty of Bhanuva, Bhanusharma, Bhanughosha and Ravana in Lansdowne and Chakkar hoards.
