Indian Princely States, Rajkot State, Dharmendra Singh ji (1930-1948 AD), Silver Mohur / Medallic issue, 6.92 gms (heavy), 19.66 mm, state monogram (crest of the State) with date 1945 below on the obv, Rajkot State above a rising sun over the ocean on rev, The ruling chiefs of Rajkot belonged to the Jadeja Rajput clan of Jamnagar (formerly Nawanagar) and traced their lineage to Shri Vibhaji (r. 1620–1635), a grandson of Jam Shri Sataji (r. 1569–1608), the founder of the Rajkot State. Initially, Vibhaji was granted the estate of Kalavad as an appanage by the Mughal Emperor. However, upon receiving Chibhda as part of his marriage dowry, he relinquished Kalavad to the Jam of Nawanagar. Thereafter, he entered Mughal service and supported Prince Shah Jahan in the campaign to expel the Vaghelas from Sardhar. In recognition of his military assistance, he was rewarded with the territories of Ardoi, Rib, Ribda, and Kalipat. Following these grants, Vibhaji established his residence at Sardhar—the original seat of power before the foundation of Rajkot—and laid the foundations of the Sardhar principality, from which the Rajkot State subsequently emerged, KM # X1, Re-Strike, very fine, rare as its one gram more in weight than the usual.
